I hope everyone got what they wanted from Santa. We had a nice day. I fixed pork tenderloin, fresh brussel sprouts and boiled new potatoes with pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Tricia and Penny(her dog) came over for dinner.

Sunday, the baby, Hudson will have his 1st birthday party at his other Grandma's. Monday we will go to Tricia's and all have our Christmas. Santa will truly have come to our family then.

Holiday prep

These are a few of my jewelry designs this year. I have the earrings in both posts and wires. All of the pendants are different.
The last three months I have mainly been teaching Girl Scouts to make their own pendants. I added them up today and there are 149 little girls that have designed their own pendants this Fall. This is really fun for me. I feel like I am making a difference and educating more people about stained glass and fusing. In the workshops we fire a pendant with my little Quik-fire kiln so they get to actually watch the different stages of warm glass. I have the last Troop of the year in my kiln right now and I will fire them tomorrow. They will get them back this weekend.
Next week I will wrap presents and get ready for Christmas. Our Christmas will be quiet but after the 27th our grandsons and daughter and son-in-law will be here from Dallas and then the fun will begin. That week we will exchange gifts for Christmas and celebrate two birthdays, Hudson's the 27th and mine on New Year's Eve.

Branson Trip

Thanksgiving was nice. My son and his new wife, Vickie came in so I cooked the traditional Thanksgiving fare. The food and company was great. They left to go back to Greeley, CO about 4:00 p.m. Short visit but a nice visit.
Hurray! Let the celebration begin. My sister, Tricia's last Hercepton treatment was over. We went to Branson, just us girls, Tricia, her best friend, Pat and me. Tricia and I went to Dixie Stampede on the Friday night and it was their Christmas show. The food was good and so was the show.
On Saturday, we went to Branson Landing and the one store I went to find was closed. Peace Frogs, Both of our girls collect frogs so I was going to get them T-shirts for Christmas. After wearing ourselves out walking we had dinner, saw the city Christmas lights and crashed at the Hotel. We left to come home Sunday morning. It was a fun weekend.

The Westies

These are the latest in the puppy series. Mikey is the handsome devil on the left and Mimi is the Miss Princess on the right. These dogs belong to my friend Sheila who also owns Jasmine the sous chef. These were fun. The leather jacket has silver brads, while the jewels and pink boa add a 3D touch.
Mikey is also wearing a blue bandana around his neck.

Dallas

I have been home for five days now. I am still not on my schedule nor have I done anything useful. I am busy with the Girl Scouts. I delivered Troop 7660's pendants to them today. I have another program in Paola Monday.
My trip was uneventful. I loved being with Mel and the boys. I missed them before I was on the plane.
Penny and Trina were glad to see me and so was Jim, Gus and Max.

This is Sparkle! Since we don't have a cat of our own I got to make her up. After she was finished I have to admit that she reminds me of Gilenda from" Wicked". It has been a year since Tricia(my sister) was diagnosed with breast cancer and treatment began. I read "Wicked" while she was in surgery. Her mamogram came back clear last week. We are just holding our breathe that everything else is good.
I am getting ready to leave for Dallas tomorrow for 6 days. I will have oodles of pictures to show when I get back. I can't believe that I haven't seen my kids since June. I know Hudson will have grown a foot.

Well the shows are over and so is summer. My glass has gone to the gallery and I have finished Max. I have also finished some other new work, That is on my website.
I leave for Dallas on Thursday. I can't wait to see Melanie and her beautiful family.

I have been reading some of my favorite blogs this evening and I as always am intrigued by Margot Potter's latest on losing friends. I can understand this as all of our lives are so busy and when keeping up with each other becomes difficult we let go those who we don't feel share our place in life. This happens naturally in moves across the country or just across town. It also happens when we don't share the same focus as well as ideas.
Margot also mentioned that she doesn't like being hurt. Who does? I find that I do not let myself get close to people so as to not be hurt.
I don't even know if anyone reads my blog but I hope my thoughts count somewhere.

Princess Trina

This is Trina. She is our rescue Scottie. Trina was a mommy in a puppy mill. She is very shy and afraid of everything but she is my Princess.

She really deserves that Tiara.

Here is Gus- He is the Star

By the Sea

Jasmine

So much going on!

So much has happened in the last month. I had my cataract surgeries. I no longer have to wear glasses for distance. 20/20 First time in 50 years. Just reading glasses. It is a big adjustment.
Thought I would post my newest works. By the Sea, a mixed media bathing beauty.
Jasmine, Pets with Personnas, also mixed media.
I am now an approved vendor(teacher) for the Girl Scouts. I will be teaching them fused glass pendants. Busy! Busy! Busy!

This has been an incredible day. Jim won $60.00 at work and I am going to receive my new lenses, toric lenses during my cataract surgery free. They are normally $1000.00 per eye. I hope our luck continues.

My grandsons are here from Dallas with their Mom so they are very welcome. The weather is finally acting like Summer so we are getting to use the pool, ride bikes and have a great time. They go back to Dallas on July 2nd. We always miss them terribly. They are truly a blessing in our lives.

New stuff

Hi!  I know it has been a long time

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Patricia, my sister had her last chemo treatmen last Thursday. Things went terribly, but then that is Murphys' Law, is it not. I help[ed her get her house kind of together today. Trash day is tomorrow... She is planning to go back to work on the 27th of March. I hope that she can make it.

I thought you might like my business card holder.

Jewels that remind me of Spring

Today it is 35 degrees but the sun is out. Tricia and I are going to KU Med for her 4th round of chemo. We will probably be there until about 8:00 tonight.
My cousin Terry has fallen off her back porch and broken her pelvic bone in 2 places. She is in the hospital but Medicaid has said that they will not pay for any rehab or anything. Missouri is really a sad place for the poor. Our Govenor Matt Blount really should be removed from office about this type of thing.
The necklace is really cool. The blue and green glass remind me of Spring.

Happy New Year!

Gus is feeling the Holiday letdown. I have been working all week on stuff for Gifted Hands Gallery. I think they are going to have to be my only focus for awhile.
Tricia has her fourth chemo treatment on Wednesday.
